You know how you sometimes might be out and about and at the most unexpected time your run into that guy that absolutely takes your breath away and you can't take your eyes off him. I couldn't resist whipping out the BlackBerry for a little impromptu street photography on this one...

Hedo Turkoglu

Yep, I know, it's a crappy cell phone pic, but yes that is Orlando Magic's Hedo Turkoglu (on the right) whom Jess and I spotted sitting next to us at the bar at La Strada last night as we sat and we sipped cocktails. To be completely honest I would have had no idea who he was had Jess not flipped out over him. And yes, he really is 6'10"! And yes, he is very good looking in real life. Jess told me I was acting tasteless when I attempted to take this cell phone pic (notice I turned off the flash to avoid detection). I told her she was tasteless when she walked up to him asked for an autograph (below) LOL.

The Magic go up against the Cavs again tonight. Go Cavs!!!

Fresh Hotness

This week's camera phone feature is inspired by all the 20/early 30 somethings (give or take a few years) who find themselves crossing the path of my BlackBerry Curve .

BlackBerry Pictures at an Exhibition

There's no doubt that the camera phone has added an interesting element to the realm of digital photography. Of course I prefer shooting with my digital SLR, but it's not plausible to lug it with me everywhere I go. And as a curious observer of the world around me, the desire to capture the moment is always there. That's when my BlackBerry Curve comes in handy.

Sure the camera phone has it's limitations. But so did the Polaroid and the Lomo, and now those retro images gloss the pages of all fine art photo books. Camera phones take a low-resolution grainy image with poor light sensitivity, not to mention the slow shutter release.  So when you hit that capture button you're never sure what you're going to get. I believe it's the challenge of working within these limitations that make the "camera phone snapshot" it's own unique art.

For this series, I've chosen to allow the limitations of the 2.0 mega pixel camera in my BlackBerry to define the image. Therefore, I've done absolutely no cropping, nor photoshopping whatsoever. Just enjoying the shot...the moment....for what it is.

For some reason, I completely forgot about the camera on my BlackBerry. Not as cool as the iPhone, but fun anyway. It might seem a bit voyeuristic, but really I'm merely intrigued by the lives of the people that cross my path at any given moment. A week in the life of my BlackBerry wireless device...

It's been exactly a week since I got my BlackBerry wireless device, and as you can see, I've been having quite a bit of fun with the camera feature. Okay, so it's not quite as cool as the iPhone (as demonstrated by Matthew Rettenmund's iLOVESNEWYORK blog - one of my favorite photo blogs btw), but I wasn't feeling the whole "switch over" to At&t caveat. Cell phone cameras aren't highly evolved, but they do provide a fun way for us to capture life on the go...
