Oz vs. Stiffler

As far as silly senseless comedies go the American Pie series takes the cake. This afternoon I was in the mood for a little silliness so I took in a matinee showing of the latest installment, American Reunion. As expected, I was ROTFLMAO.

This franchise works because of the chemistry of the ensemble cast. But it’s always the hotness factor of Seann William Scott (Stiffler) and Chris Klein (Oz) that catch my attention. Scott has clearly been hitting the gym and his character’s form fitting tees show off his pec and bicep action nicely. And Klein, clearly no stranger to the gym, bronzed up his nearly perfect chiseled face for this flick. So this begs the question: Who would you “do” from the American Pie movies? Stiffler? or Oz?

I’m not even sure I can choose. Stiffler is the kind of guy who’s a douche but would probably give it to you hard. While Oz is the sensitive pretty boy who you’d like to see biting a pillow. (Oh, I’m so foul. Where did I learn phrases like this?)

BTW - Thomas Ian Nichols (Kevin) is quite worthy of an honorable mention in the hotness department as well. I never saw him this way before, but he grew out the sexiest facial hair for American Reunion.

Holy Crap!

Now that I'm one of his cyber stalkers super fans Jaime Cepero's tweet after the Smash premiere is soooo cute. Can you imagine being young and beautiful and seeing yourself on t.v. for the first time?

Okay, so I am sitting here only half-watching the NBC premiere of Smash out of the corner of my eye as I work on my lap top. I probably won't get into this show because I don't have capacity for another TV craze right now (I mean, I've got vampires, housewives, and ad execs on Madison Avenue to catch up on, so cut me some slack)... but I am really digging one thing that I'm seeing out of the corner of my eye and that is Jaime Cepero. Apparently he's a new comer because his IMDB resume is bare, but I see big things in his future. 

Mantique: Michael Ontkean

Because I’m a David Lynch fan (Mullholland Drive is still one of my favorite films of all time) I’ve been revisiting his series Twin Peaks on Netflix. Twin Peaks is a show I hardly paid any attention when it was current, but then again I was a chubby teenager more interested in the happenings of a set of twins named Brenda and Brandon who resided in a specific California zip code and hung out at a place called the Peach Pit.

Now that I’ve re-discovered Twin Peaks I’ve also discovered a new mantique crush, Michael Ontkean who plays sheriff Harry S. Truman. After IMDBing Ontkean I was surprised to discover he was already in his mid-40s by the time he made the series despite a boyish face that defies age.

Upon further internet research I discovered Ontkean also starred in a 1982 film called Making Love,  where he played a doctor married to a beautiful television executive (played by The Kate Jackson) who struggles with his loyalty to his wife and his homosexual tendencies. Making Love also stars a young and yummy Harry Hamlin as Ontkean’s male love interest. So needless to say I’m anxious to see this film.

Ontkean's hay day as a hearththrob seemed to come in the late 70s early 80s given his credits as a leading character during this time. If you're as big of a fan of the 80s as I am then you might recognize him as the hunky chauffer in the 1987 Ally Sheedy film Maid to Order (did I mention I love cheesy 80s movies?)

Ontkean will turn 66 on January 24th and is still acting today. He can most recently be seen in George Clooney’s The Descendants.  Below is a late-2000s image of Ontkean and it looks as though he still defies the test of time.

It has been brought to my attention that yesterday (September 30) marked the 56th anniversary of the untimely death of James Dean. His image is so iconic it’s almost surreal to think had his life not ended tragically at such a young age that it is entirely possible he could still be alive today and making films. He would have just turned 80 this year.

 

Just Jared

I have been in lust with Jared Leto for nearly two decades (if you were a teenager in the 1990s then you can probably relate). Which is why I'm ecstatic to discover that he has his own blog where you can see a picture of his.... uhm.... armpit which is just as beautiful as the rest of him.

This uptown man is single and open and waiting... for you... to justify...

The sight of a soaking wet Lenny Kravitz (with his fly down, mind you) is all it took to convince me to snatch this month's issue of Uptown off the newsstand. Inside, the 47-year old rocker talks about his relationship with his late mother Roxie Roker and his heartbreak over the death of R&B singer Teena Marie whom he was once close to and considered to be like a sister to him. In regards to his relationship status, Kravitz is quoted as saying "I'm single and open and waiting" (hhmm.... sounds like a line from that little tune he wrote for Madonna about 20-years ago). He also talks to Uptown about his new album Black and White America which is inspired by a documentary he saw on post-Obama racism.

Kravitz has been known to appear artfully nude in editorial spreads before, but I'm sorry to report that this cover shot is as salacious as it gets for Uptown. Although he doesn't show any skin in this 7-page photo spread it still ain't too shabby. Face it, this man could wrap himself head to toe in a burka and still be sexy as f*ck.

Now that I'm catching up on True Blood (just started season 3 on ) I've identified my absolute favorite fanged creature, Alexander Skarsgard. I'm not typically in to pale blondies, but I find his sinister character on the show to be irresistible. Here he is looking all sexy on the cover of Wonderland Mag (October 2011). By the way, yesterday (8/25) was his 35th birthday. Happy be-lated Alex...  I'd let you be my maker (True Bloodies know what I'm talking about).

I think this story about Abercrombie & Fitch offering to pay The Situation big bucks to stop wearing their clothes is absolutely hilarious. I guess you know you’re a fake-lebrity when corporate suits are willing to dish out good money for you NOT to endorse their brand. I dunno... perhaps he’s not a good fit for A&F, but the CKs in this pic conjured up from the web look to be a pretty damn nice fit to me.

Ryan Kwanten, queens all over this world would pay GOOD money just to watch...

Okay, so I am just now getting into the True Blood series (I know, I’m a little late on this, but I’m too cheap to buy premium cable). I’m halfway through season one and I have to say I am in total lust with the Jason Stackhouse character played by Ryan Kwanten. Or shall I say his body? Damn, this dude is so effin’ ripped that watching his sex scenes has brought on a slight bout of body dysmorphia... I swear, I watched an episode this evening and headed right out and ran four miles, came home and ate nothing but a light salad with a little grilled chicken. His is a body built by extreme cardio, yoga, and ya’ll know the boy only eats a carb once every six months. True Blood is available via Amazon or .

Mantique: The Asian James Dean?

(via 60s Forever) This is why I love the blogosphere. It’s constantly exposing me to people I would be completely unfamiliar otherwise. I can’t help but to look at this image of Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune and be put in the mind of an Asian James Dean. Smoking is bad for your health, but yes, it did make the men of the golden era of film look ever-so-suave.

Mantique: Lyle Waggoner

I stumbled upon this Playgirl-esque shot of Lyle Waggoner on the net the other day. It brought back fond memories of being a child and watching him on the Carol Burnett show. Not to mention, I'll always love him as the sparkling-teethed Steve Trevor on Wonder Woman. Even at that age I was frustrated by the unresolved romantic chemistry between him and Lynda Carter. Of course both of those shows were already in syndication by the time I was old enough to burn them into my memory database. Good thing the internet wasn't around back then because I would have been very disappointed in the moral character of Steve Trevor if I knew he were taking nasty pictures. But that was then, and this is now.... and me likes, me likes!

Mantique: A rebel for my cause?

Whenever I come across a picture of James Dean I can't help but to wonder what it might have been like if he were alive, in my generation, and I was in his league (via wehadfacesthen)

He don't want no more of the crying game...

Because I have this freak-like obsession with “where are they now” stories, I spend quite a bit of time Googling celebrities who seem to have fallen off the face of the earth. Whatever happened to that adorable kid from Madonna’s Open Your Heart video (my finding is worthy of its own blog posting soon to come), or that faux femme fatale Jaye Davidson? The latter having capitalized on his androgynous beauty in the early 1990s in roles such as Dil in The Crying Game and Ra the Sun God in Stargate. So imagine my surprise when I happened upon Davidson’s facebook fan page and spotted these recent images of the once thick-maned pretty boy (below). Davidson, now 43, has transformed from a convincing vixen of the silver screen to an extremely attractive (and buff, might I add) man. 

Where is he now? According to IMDB and Wikipedia he left Hollywood no sooner than he nearly became a household name because he didn’t like the attention that came with  his rising star. He now works in London as a fashion assistant, a job he held before making The Crying Game.

The JoBro...

I’ve never really paid much attention to the Jonas Brothers mainly because I thought it a bit inappropriate to oggle over the same cast of Disney characters that would send my nine and ten year old nieces into a frenzy of hyperactivity every Saturday morning. But I have to say, this photo spread of Joe Jonas in the April issue of Details caught my attention. So much so that I snatched the issue right off the newsstand merely because of the hot dark-haired guy on the cover (yes, I am so unfamiliar with the Jonas Brothers that I didn’t even recognize who he was at first).

These pics by Norman Jean Roy are so damn hot, and oh yeah, I actually read the article too. Joe Jonas is now 21, living on his own in a loft apartment in Hollywood, and has apparently lost his purity ring. He also combats those gay rumors with the very safe (and boring) “There’s nothing wrong with being gay... but I’m not,” response. He’s got a solo album coming out this spring and one would think if he were really trying to shed his JoBro image he’d have said something a little edgier, like: “I get way too punani to be gay.” Okay, so that may be a bit too much, but you know he’s gettin’ it and that would have been a hot soundbyte coming from a grown-n-sexy teen idol twink. Zefron ripped and tatted!

I've long thought of Zac Efron as being way too pretty to be considered sexy, but I might be rithinking my stance on that now that he's got a little ink on his bicep. Now that he's finally reached an age where he has a few hairs on his chinny chin chin, I no longer feel like a dirty old man when I get slightly aroused at the sight of him without a shirt. After all, he is like a dozen years younger than me.
