Devin Thomas by Idris & Tony

Interestingly, most of my knowledge of sports is gleaned through the gay blogosphere. Usually I learn the name of a sports star when he makes news by yelling homophobic slurs at a fan. But these pics of Devin Thomas look quite homofriendly to me. Apparently Devin is a member of an athletic team called the New York Giants, which were somehow associated with that big televised Madonna concert a few weeks ago. Jerome by JanC

While going through my blogroll (to catch up with some favorite spots I haven't browsed in a while and clearing out old bloggers that have seemingly disappeared from the blogosphere) I came across this shot of Atlanta-based model Jerome shot by one of my favorite photographers. In his post featuring Jerome lenser JanC gives some good advice on capturing models under the harshness of direct sun light. 

On another note, perhaps I like this image so much because Jerome puts me in the mind of one of my model muses, Ced.

Without a Face: The photography of Dylan Ricci

Dylan Ricci’s photographic art is some of the most aesthetically pleasing nude work I’ve ever seen and has been a long-time inspiration for my own photographic endeavors. I find his portfolio to be a refreshing departure from that of other contemporary photographers. His work is solely based on the emotive aspects of the aesthetic, it’s erotic but not overstated. Powerful, yet withdrawn and leaving me wanting more. I would love to be a fly on the wall during one of his studio sessions.

The whole world is getting familiar with Michael Press being that he recently appeared as the prom date from H-E- double hockey sticks in the music video for Beyonce's (oddly lyric-ed btw) The Best Thing I Never Had . But before he was the worst high-school boyfriend ever, photographer Tarrice Love knew him as one of the nicest models he's ever met. In fact he's got some rare footage of Press romping around his studio in his underwear to prove it. See it at Love's blog.

Black never looked so good!

Man: Black is the kind of fine art photography book I really get excited about. Author Michael Christopher (From Top to Bottom and Living the Life) attributes the motivation for his first publishing foray into photography to the fact that he was unable to find positive images of black men on the web.

"I was conducting some research on HIV prevention and couldn’t find what I was looking for," Michael-Christopher told R20 last week. "I did a Google search for "Black men" and the result were pages and pages of porn. I thought, 'Wow. This is how we’re seen?' Very disappointing and very upsetting. And as a Black man, the last thing that I think of myself is as a porn object."
