Back on the 365

I'm hell bent on not doing one of those cliche blogger New Year posts where I refelect on my biggest accomplishments and greatest disappointments of 2011. Though I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge my regret over the fact that I didn't keep up with my iPhoneography project SpinCycle365 last year. I only made it about 210 days before I abandoned the project due to the perceived notion that I had too much going on to be bothered (otherwise known as laziness). Anyways, I'm going to give it another shot for 2011. Above is my first urban landscape of the new year taken on the first day of the year. Check out SpinCycle365 to see what I found in my garage on the second day of the year. It absolutely creeped me out and prompted an erratic call to the landlord.

Tales from the Town House Motel...

I was driving through East Cleveland the other day when I spotted this quite interesting looking motel. If those walls could talk I can only imagine.

on my way to wonderland...

For some strange reason I chose to take an alternate route on my way home from work this evening. When I happened upon this house I felt compelled to stop and snap a shot. I don’t know what it was about this particular house on this particular street, but something about it made me wonder about the people who lived there. Like I mentioned it was an unusual route, out of my way, and I will probably never pass this way again.

As I was driving through the Tremont neighborhood yesterday I was shocked to discover that one of my favorite abandoned buildings is being torn down. I would have thought it to be a prime candidate for rebirth as warehouse condos or artists lofts, but no such fate for this remnant left over from Cleveland's golden industrial age. Note: photo taken with my iPhone 4 and edited with the Pro HDR and qbro apps.

I shot this image for my SpinCycle365 project on my way home from work this afternoon. I love how the colors turned out. By the way, this photo marks day number 166 of the project.

Every day on my way home from work I cross these railroad tracks. And every day I look out my driver's side window and say to myself "there's a picture here." So Friday, I finally stopped and snapped a photo. Little did I know I would be in a minor car accident just a few miles down the road...

I bet you didn’t know that Cleveland has beaches that look like this in the dead of February. This is a view from my office that I shot with my iPhone. Okay, so I admit embellished a bit with the help of a couple iPhone apps. See the before and after post production steps after the jump.

Urban Landscape (Lomora Photo App Review)

Initially, I was excited about the new iPhone photo app Lomora by Marvin Lee. That is until I discovered that the developer didn't clearly disclose all the fees associated with running this app in the app store description. You have to pay 99 cents every 36 frames after paying the initial $1.99 for the download. What a ripoff. Looks as though it's becoming a big controversy in the iPhoneography world too. Meanwhile, back at the MacBook, here's a few Urban Landscapes I captured before my 36 exposures ran out.

A San Francisco treat!

Wassup fellas?! So I've just returned from my west coast trip, and while not an official stop on the American Boy Tour,I did manage to cram a wee bit of street photography into my schedule. I'm working feverishly on my photo album from this trip, so hopefully I'll have it posted a little later this evening (be sure to check back later). Though I brought my DSLR with me, it was pouring rain in San Francisco the day I was there. Since I didn't want to risk damaging my $1200 camera I shot everything with my iPhone (including the image above). I'm sort of fascinated with the concept of iPhoneography as an art form, so this was an unexpected but welcomed experiment.
